We can spend so much time looking back, dwelling on past mistakes and reminiscing on missed opportunities, and everything bad that has happened; rather than looking ahead, preparing for what’s next in life- that next job, that next assignment or opportunity, and remaining positive.
We’re among a people and culture prone towards negativity. Negative thoughts and negative conversations. “Oh, that is too difficult.” “You will never get there.” “You can never complete that assignment, finish that task or reach that goal!” Some people mean well but continue in a cycle of negativity, planting thoughts of depression and defeat. They say “you’ll never be a doctor, a lawyer, Manager, direct a script, write that book….” Some laugh at us when we share our ideas. And sometimes those near us do not help, “No one in our family has ever done that!” Rather than giving encouraging, supporting and uplifting statements.
Instead of us blocking these thoughts from our minds and eliminating the negativity from our mouths- we often get a pillow and comforter and wallow in our misery and regrets.
No one has an easy, smooth-flowing life. We all have difficult times; but the way we think can certainly affect our actions and lives.
Romans 12:2 reads,
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
As daughters of God and children of the Most High, we must renew our way of thinking. Our thinking should be above that of the words. Different, set apart and a righteous way of thinking: not following the patterns of this world.
Indeed we are blessed of God. We are favored women! Thankful, faithful to what He has assigned us to and hopeful in all things. All things work together for our good. (Rom. 8:28) Greater is He that is in us. God will never leave us nor forsake us! (Heb. 5:13)
worth. She began to have the wrong way of thinking. “You are gifted.” “You can do this!” “You are beautiful.” She began to believe it and change the way she was thinking. By the end of her interview she made the statement which proves that she knows who she is- she said,
“I am valuable.” [I have included a link her video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf-8aG6ND4c]
But not only is she valuable, priceless and gifted, she is a daughter of Christ and is entitled every good and perfect thing in this life.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. – James 1:17
Our thinking must change, our views must be made new. Our thinking should neither be negative or condemning, nor selfish in its nature. Because we lean on the All-Powerful God, and place our trust in an All-knowing King and Savior, we can thinking wonderful thoughts, live in hope of tomorrow and overcome every obstacle!
