Why do we worry so much!
Why do we stress ourselves unnecessarily?
One of my favorite songs growing up was- His eyes is on the Sparrow and I
know He watches me!
While Jesus was teaching his disciple, He gave a scenario of two birds to drive home His point:
1. The Raven ( Luke12:24 )
2. The Sparrow ( Matt.10:29-31 )
Jesus went to say that the raven does not sow nor reap, plant nor harvest. They really don’t do anything! If you’ve seen a raven with a shovel or plow tracker, let me know. I will be there.
Scientists describe ravens as confident and inquisitive birds- so they are quite intelligent. They dwell either alone or in pair unless they are around food sources and their lightweight posture gives them a graceful fly.
Sparrows are smaller birds and in Jesus’ day sparrow were a very cheap bird to purchase. Sparrows come in a diverse variety of colors and shapes. They love to sing and make rather quick brief flights. “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin?” The cooper coin was the lowest value of currency at that time- equivalent to a penny. A little value as the sparrow is God takes not of everyone.
God feeds the raven.
And not one sparrow falls to the ground and die without God knowing.
If God looks after these birds of so little worth compared to humans, how much more will He take care of us.
Know that He’s thinking about you. Know that God cares. There is not a tear He has not seen or an prayer He has not heard! He knows what you need before you ask and just as He is faithful to supply EVERYTHING- food, warmth, shelter, clothes- that a raven needs- Darling you know He’s got your back too!
Help me to continue to trust and to trust wholeheartedly in you,
knowing you will supply my needs according to you riches in glory
and that I have no need to fear anything. You are with me and
are covering me in your feathers. (Psalm 91:4)
HIS EYES IS ON THE SPARROW AND I KNOW HE WATCHES ME.
