Leading Women – Intro

We are in a time and a season when the influence of women on our culture have reached an all-time high. Today, women can have any job or perform any task that a man can. Women teach, are engineers, go to the moon and back, we can obtain the highest, most extensive degrees, they can even perform all of the duties of a Priest. Women are doing today what was unthinkable a few decades ago, juggling a number of roles, accomplishing new feats and raising society’s stakes!

Women are leading in a number of areas and capacities today, and rightfully so- many of them earned it!

As we lead in various sects and capacities in our nation or wherever we find ourselves, remember that our Gift to Lead is God-given, and must be used for His honor and the expansion of His Kingdom on the earth.

When God made the first made man and woman, he imparted to them a covenant known as the Dominion Covenant. Genesis 2:26 reads,

“Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule. King James says, “And let them have dominion.”

God was saying that He has given man & woman the authority to have dominion in the earth. In other words, man and woman was made to rule; we were designed to lead.

From the beginning God had given Adam and Eve authority to rule over all of creation with vigor and strength. We are not to follow every thought or belief sent our way, but we ought to lead. We are to lead other women into a path that is right with compassion. We are to lead in the workplace, not following every tabloid news or gossip-based conversation, but start the trend of positive conversation. We are to lead our kids, whose potentials are still to be seen and very lives we are responsible for. Whether we lead a mission, disaster relief, or mom of kindergarteners group; a club, a team or an army of people, let us lead so others ultimately see our Creator in us.

I’m sure you’ve heard the statement, “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” Just a glimpse into how much women affect our society. Tony Evans in his book, “Kingdom Woman,” (co-authored with his daughter Chrystal Evans-Hurst) stated that “Women have been equipped with such an innate capacity for influence that they can change the world for good or, unfortunately, for bad.”

Hopefully you know God made you lead. Hopefully you believe the authority we have been given by God and must be used unto Him. This is not to promote any one person, but to build God’s kingdom.

To be the LEADING WOMAN He has called you, walking in grace, excellence and a continued commitment toward OUR KING- Christ himself, you must use the following:

  1. Lead with Excellence as unto Him. In whatever we do, we ought to do it as if we are presenting it to our King. In reciprocation, knowing that God gave his best to us. Doing our best in everything, which also means in leading others: we must be fair and just in doing so, remembering it is the Lord who allowed us to lead in the first place.
  2. Meditate on His Word- Leaders, men and women alike will get discouraged at times and next to prayer, they know to find encouragement through the Word. It is during these times that passages like, “I will never leave you nor forsake,” (Hebrews 13:5) and “only be strong and of good courage!” (Joshua 1:7) can mean so much. Or sadly when our enemies come against us again, we know and believe that, “The Lord will fight for you…” (Ex. 14:14). It’s His Word that keeps us in hard times. It’s His Word that breathes life to the dead situation, His Word declares “we are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath” (Deut. 28:13). It’s His Word that encourages us, guides our steps and lights our path.
  3. Walk in wisdom- realizing that good leadership takes planning, effort and strategy in leading today.
  4. Display love to everyone. Everyone you come into contact with especially fellow sisters in the Lord. Heb. 6:10 & John 13:35. Some people are thirsty for it, in a world with a serious drought in Love.

You were made to lead. You were designed to direct others to the King rather than be directed astray, into a hundred different directions, which do not give Him praise. God formed you with a specific Plan and Purpose in mind- so stand tall, keep your head up, walk in confidence and assurance that God and the Creator loves you and is with you. Do not be afraid of men’s faces, but in liberty and dominion walk into the destiny Christ had laid out for you!

See-Job 25:2, Ps. 37:23 and Matthew 16:19

Grace

She stood before the court and the jurors as deliberations on the case had come to an end.  The verdict was here and it wasn’t long afterwards that the statement read: Guilty.

This woman had committed a crime.  It was an unlawful act, out of the bounds of the law of the land and country.  Now she was held to the weight of the letter of the law.  Such sentence requires her life.  She is certainly guilty and all of the evidence surrounding her verdict proves this.

Now depressed and even dismayed, she hangs her head down in guilt.  Tears begin to stream down her cheeks as she whispers- “Help me.”

Then in a sudden turn of events, the judge, leaves his stand, temporarily steps down from his post, goes before the prosecutor and says,

“I will take her place.”

How could the judge take this criminals place.  How could he leave his high-ranking to serve someone not worthy of such service.  Yet He did.  And for this we are eternally grateful.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

-Roman 5:8

If you need His help, His hand or His love- know that He is just a prayer away.

Abundance of Favor

Image

Favor will follow the children of God wherever they go!

In the store, you receive unexpected discounts.  At work, promotion follows right after promotion.  Your kids receive a full-scholarship to college.  Your health is blessed, your children are blessed and that joy that Psalmist David proclaimed many times, becomes alive in your spirit.

Nehemiah 8:10,  “Neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

When everyone is treated one way, and somehow you are treated differently.

When like stagnant water others remain still while you, like an unending stream keep moving, growing and branching.

While others trust in their own knowledge and skills, you trust in God.

Like a cloud following you everywhere you go, God’s favor and love abounds.

Father,

like a showers from the sky, may abundance of favor be with me always.

God had instructed Abraham to leave his home and go to a “land I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1)

In direct obedience to God, Abraham leaves his town, his wife joining him, and also multitudes of servants, camels, sheep and cattle.  But also following him and his household was Lot, his nephew.

While on their journey they reached a place between Bethel (the house of God) and Ai (ruins).  Abraham parked for a while and here, Abraham built and altar to God and prayed. But the men and household of Abraham and the household of Lot were too large to work side-by-side each other.  They had to separate. Lot saw a plain of the Jordan because it was “well watered” and left to obtain it.  (Genesis 13:10) After Lot left Abraham and all of his household, servants and cattle behind,

God spoke to Abraham saying,

Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring[a] forever. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.

1Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.

We as children of Abraham, as seed of the Faith and Inheritance of God, have a right to this blessing too!

An inheritance that we only need to reach out and grab: for it was already given to us!!

Favor is for the getting.  Blessings, joy and hope if we just would receive it by faith.

Father, thank you for the many favor you have

put in my life.  I recognize that it was given by you

and you alone.  May other see this favor and come

to love you more.

Something to be Thankful For!

I’m Thankful for life, Hope, Happiness and Joy
Thankful for health, wealth and God’s strength to employ
His Divine Peace to overcome every strife
For God’s favor, God’s blessings, but most of all my life.

I’m thankful for God’s Provision, God’s Protection and faithful Plan
The Christ Child- Jesus, His Son, to redeem all of man
Thankful for mothers, fathers, husbands and wives
God’s favor, God’s blessings, but most of all our lives

I’m thankful for God’s Presence, His Awe, Mysterious wonder
Thankful for God’s Amazing Grace and mercies new every day
Jesus stripes, mocks, and nailing on the Cross for all to See
Thankful He endured the Persecution that we might be Free!

AMAZING GRACE!

I can hear the singer Chris Tomlin now sing the words:

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.

Wow.

Ephesians 2:4, 7-8 says,

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us….That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding RICHES OF HIS GRACE in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God….”

OUT OF ALL the things people have given me and the awards people have presented to me. Or anything could EVER receive: the Grace of God surpasses them all!  We can see here that God is rich in three areas:  God is rich in Mercy.  God is rich in Love.  AND God is rich in Grace.

Money, Fame, THAT position on the job, cars, houses in Beverley Hills, and a yacht just won’t satisfy the longing in each person’s heart!

Don’t give me a Car!  Give me a Savior.

Don’t give me gold and expensive jewelry! Give me a Protector!

Don’t give me fame and all the publicity this world has to offer!  GIVE ME A REDEEMER!

— Do not give me things that take up a lot of space in my house, but doesn’t give an inch of satisfaction in my soul! —

The point is I was a Wretch. Sinner. Undone. Quite proud and Very selfish.  Thinking I was righteous on MY OWN acts and account.  But far from redeemed until I heard the good news: Jesus died, that I might live! Jesus took on my sin with his death, and because he arose from the dead, I too will live forever with him and all I must do is BELIEVE on him.

May be you were born Saved! Holy and literally an angel delivered from heaven.  BUT I WAS NOT!

I needed a Savior, I needed GRACE.  Amazing grace from God, to redeem my soul from Hell!

And to think that while I was still in sin, Jesus died for me! What a gift of GRACE!

—-Blessings.

Virtues of a Woman of Character

This is a recent teaching on Character at Church of God National Women’s Conference

by Jovette Archer

Character –

´  a set of qualities that are shared by many people in a group, country, or so on.

´  **A set of qualities that make a group of people different or distinct from other groups of people.

Who Are We?

Genesis 2- WOMEN

´  18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable [suitable] to him.”           -NKJV

´  21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a WOMAN, and He brought her to the man.

23 And Adam said:

´                                  “This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”

Fearfully-Made Creatures

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

– Psalms 139:14

15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!

-Psalms 139:15-17

Purposefully-made Creatures

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

– Jeremiah 1:5

Everything about you was designed by Him;

Designed exactly the way it is.

We are Purposefully designed, masterfully made.

How do we carry ourselves?

  1. Pure heart, pure motives and conversation.

1 Peter 3:1-2

Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the CONDUCT of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.

Chaste – pure or decent, simple or plain, clean and spotless

2. Strength & Dignity

´  She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.

– Proverbs 31:25

´  She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.

– Proverbs 31:17

3. Gentle & Self-controlled

1Peter 3:3-5

Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible BEAUTY of a gentle (meek) and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,

Meek – not creating disturbances

What attitude should we portray?

Proverbs 31:12-13

She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
She seeks wool and flax,
And WILLINGLY works with her hands.

Ruth 2:13-15

´  “It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before. 12 The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”

´  13 Then she said, “Let me find favor in your sight, my lord; for you have comforted me, and have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants.”

“She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”

-Proverbs 31:26

´  Ruth 3:1-4

´  Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you? Now Boaz, whose young women you were with, is he not our relative? In fact, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor. Therefore wash yourself and anoint yourself, put on your best garment and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. Then it shall be, when he lies down, that you shall notice the place where he lies; and you shall go in, uncover his feet, and lie down; and he will tell you what you should do…”

Proverbs 13:3

´  He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips

´  shall have destruction.

Proverbs 31:20

´  She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.

What is our self-portrait?

´  Women of Dignity,

´  Women of Respect,

´  Women of Confidence.

How Envy gives false perspective

There is nothing worse than envy to break up close ties.

There is a story found in Luke 15 where a younger brother went and asked his father to give him his inheritance.  So the dad did, and gave him a good sum of inheritance money just as he requested.  Let’s say this son/younger brother name is Steve.  Before you could say, Savings Plan, Steve had spent all of it on parties, entertainment, gambling and harlots – contemporarily speaking.  Steve’s money had vanished and of course his many friends did also.

When he searched for a place to work, the only place he found was a farm area feeding pigs. Scripture says, “no one gave him anything.” (V.16)  Although he was in desperate need and wanting, no one gave him a plate of food, helped him find a job or lend a helping hand.  Things became so bad for him, that the husks he was feeding the pig with, he found himself longing to eat! Until he remembered that even his father’s servants had food in abundance and place of comfort to live.  Steve thought, “I should just join the servants’ staff at my father’s house, I blew being a son, a servant will do.  At least I know I will be fed!!!!”

When this prodigal, wayward, squandering son returned to his father, his dad DID NOT condemn him for his choices, but hugged and kissed him and threw a big celebration in his honor.  The bible says that they had “fattened calf” [sounds like fresh grilled streak to me].  (V.22)  Just that morning, Dad didn’t know if his son was still alive.  He didn’t know if his son was well; so now that he held him in his arms.  A big party seem nothing less than suitable red for this young man that had returned.  When the older brother heard of this big celebration for his prodigal brother.  Rather he refused to attend  the celebration.   The young man older brother simply could not catch the fathers perspective of having found a lost son.

The brother’s perspective should have been, yesterday and for five years, I had no idea where my brother was.  If he was alive or dead.  I had no connection and friendship with him for all these years.  We couldn’t speak to each other, do things together or go out for fun; but now I know my brother is alive and well and I can do things with my brother. We can now have a relationship.  Instead, the older brother griped, I have been in this house many years and no one celebrated and held a party in my honor!  These were brothers from the same family: they had the same parents, grew and live in the same house- One family, one organization, one church. Yet someone found a way to be envious and hold contempt for each other.

The family was designed by the creator for individuals to encourage, uphold each other, to share struggles and hardships together– to LOVE each other. Love your neighbor as yourself [the 2nd greatest commandment].   When one member of the family turns away from the others for whatever reason, it affects the entire family. Unity would no longer be present.  But they were of the SAME family and there was no room for envy and things of the sort!!

Is there something holding you from freely, and willingly loving others in your life.  Past hurts and disappointments, past griefs or personal shame.  Remember to leave the past, the past and like the Apostle Paul, press towards the mark that  is before!

And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. – Mark 3:25

Father,

Teach me to live as unto you, loving all those that you placed in my life.  Forgive and cleanse me of any envy

and jealousy and may your love and grace exude from me to a lost and hurting world around me.

In Jesus’ name.
